Greetings, all! I am Ardol (my Blogspot username was once O-Digga, so some of my comments will appear under that name), and welcome to my blog, where I combine two of my greatest interests: World of Warcraft and philosophy. (I play a druid, so there's a fair amount of mention of the druid class as well.) Now, if that sounds intimidating, know that it doesn't mean I take older philosophies and apply them to WoW, though I have been known to do that from time to time. Instead, this blog exists as a medium through which I discuss WoW from a philosophical perspective. Put simply, in this blog, I philosophize about WoW the same way real philosophers philosophize about life, hence the name.
Knowing I could never keep a daily blog, I long ago decided to stick to what I am fairly good at: consistency, rather than frequency. Thus come the three categories of posts, or "columns", as I sometimes call them.
Monday's posts are usually miscellaneous posts and can include musings on various topics, philosophical analysis of non-WoW things, and posts about me. They can really be anything; they are miscellany, after all.
Wednesday's posts used to be advice posts, but I ran out of advice to give, so they are now either miscellany posts or philosophy posts. When I do have advice to give, I write a lot about druids, since that is the class I play the most, but I also write general advice posts, posts that any class can take advice away from.
Friday's posts are philosophy posts. These are the meat of the blog, the blog's raison detre. There is no particular pattern to what I philosophize about; anything WoW-related is fair game.
You can read about the history of my blog up to and including my 100th post in, well, my 100th post.
This blog is not related in any way to the book World of Warcraft and Philosophy by Luke Cuddy and John Nordlinger, though I do suggest you check that book out if you enjoy my blog. You can find my review of it here.
If you notice any spelling or grammar mistakes in my posts, please let me know about them in the comments section. I do my best to double check my posts for errors, but like playing Pokémon with only one game cartridge, I cannot catch 'em all.
Finally, please don't hesitate to leave a comment on posts you like. It's always encouraging to know that I am, indeed, writing for an audience, and not just for myself. ;-)
great writing!
